Depending on your treatment, you may experience some temporary tooth sensitivity. Try a product such as Advil or TYLENOL® to relieve any discomfort you may feel, and this problem should subside in a day. While the first 48 hours are crucial to maintaining the color of your smile, there are steps you should take for as long as you want your treatment to be effective. You should avoid foods or drinks that can stain your teeth, such as berries, dark colored foods, drinks and sauces. Red wine can darken your smile, but white wine has a very high acid content, which can also affect the appearance of your teeth. Cigarettes or any tobacco product can stain your teeth, so you should avoid using them after your treatment, and this may be a good time to consider quitting altogether. Home whitening trays can also be effective in keeping your smile white, and of course, you should brush and floss you teeth and see us for your regular dental cleanings and exams.
