Facts on How Dental Veneers Can Help You

Posted .

Dental veneers are thin shells which are bonded to your teeth to give you a healthy, attractive smile. In fact, our porcelain or resin veneers can be used to correct crooked teeth, to whiten your smile, or to close small gaps in your mouth. Veneers are stain resistant and durable—but there are still things you can consider doing to extend the life of your veneers.

As you’ve probably guessed, you should brush and floss every day. Please remember to brush for at least two minutes at a time, twice a day. You may want to consider using a non-abrasive toothpaste, such as those designed for individuals with sensitive teeth.

Similarly, please remember to only chew on things you should. For instance, we recommend not chewing on things like pens and ice. You should also avoid using your teeth to open bottles or to perform similar actions. Doing any of these things could damage—or even crack—your veneers. Once thus happens, you’ll need to have new veneers placed. Also, please remember to limit your consumption of certain drinks, such as alcohol and soda.

And finally, you will want to keep up with your scheduled dental visits once every six months to make sure your veneers are in tip top condition. To learn more about what you can do to protect your veneers, or to schedule your next visit, please don’t hesitate to give Jamie P. Choi, DDS a call at 408-973-8500.
